Maintenance Engineer

Dynamic and rapidly growing Fine Art Services Company seeks a Maintenance Engineer. UOVO is the largest ground-up museum quality storage facility in the United States. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for completing general work requests associated with the day to day maintenance of the facility in conjunction with the Maintenance Mechanic and Facilities Manager.  The ideal candidate will have experience working in building maintenance with strong technical knowledge as well an understanding of workplace and personal safety on the job.  

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintenance of mechanical rooms, fire suppression systems, overhead doors, HVAC equipment (DX Units, DOAS, GTS Humidifiers, De-Humidifiers), pumps, water filters, bathrooms, dock levelers, electrical systems and general conditions
  • Responding immediately to any equipment or facility related breakdown
  • Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, ensure all facility equipment is maintained per the manufacture spec in a timely manner
  • Installation of mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment as well as trouble shooting and repairs for various equipment
  • Troubleshoot and assist staff members and clients with various requests in a timely manner
  • Communicate the completion of any and all work orders to necessary staff and any relevant vendors
  • In conjunction with the Facilities Manager assess extraordinary maintenance required for the property i.e. replacing guttering, parking lot repairs, repairing outside lighting, perimeter fence, landscaping, carpets etc)
  • Shoveling snow and depositing ice melt as necessary during inclement weather and required maintenance to prep for seasonal changes
  • Relaying or repairing flooring as needed (i.e. carpeting, painting)
  • Support all facility related requests for internal and external events that take place on site  
  • Escort vendors and contractors working within UOVO’s facilities
  • Maintenance as needed at UOVO’s Rockland facilities

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Team Player, active problem solver, able to work in a dynamic environment with high level of accountability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide clear and concise details regarding building issues
  • The ability to multi task in a fast paced environment while ensuring the utmost attention to detail
  • Innate ability to make quick sound decisions
  • Must be team oriented with the ability to work across various departments
  • Certifications for fire watch, sprinkler standpipe and fire pump is preferable
  • Occasional nights and weekends required; flexible schedule is preferable  
  • HVAC or Journeymen license and certification is preferred
  • Certifications for Fire Guard (F01), Sprinkler Standpipe (S14) and Fire Pump (S13) preferred (S95)
  • 2-3 years’ experience preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation
  • On-call availability
