UOVO Prize is Awarded to Photographer John Edmonds
The Brooklyn Museum has awarded the first annual UOVO Prize to Brooklyn based photographer John Edmonds. Edmonds is a Brooklyn based photographer who is best known for his portraits of the black community, he uses his medium to challenge the historical precedents of the culture. We created this prize to help promote an emerging artists career through a cash award, a solo exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum, and a large installation on the facade of UOVO’s forthcoming facility in Bushwick. Edmonds public installation at UOVO:Brooklyn will debut in the fall of 2019, concurrent with the opening of the art storage facility, and the exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum will follow in 2020.
