John Edmonds is Awarded the UOVO Prize – Blouin ArtInfo
The Brooklyn Museum announced photographer John Edmonds as the first recipient of the annual UOVO Prize. Edmonds will receive a cash prize, solo exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, and a large scale installation on the facade of UOVO:Brooklyn. The UOVO Prize is awarded to emerging artists in the Brooklyn borough with the intent to help them break into the art world. Edmonds is a graduate of Yale University and has been shown in group exhibitions such as the 2019 Whitney Biennial and at David Zwirner. “We’re so pleased to offer the UOVO Prize to John Edmonds, an artist whose gorgeous photographs negotiating the intersection of race, gender, sexuality, and spirituality have been captivating us over the past several years,” says Anne Pasternak, Shelby White and Leon Levy Director, Brooklyn Museum.
