Brooklyn Museum Awards John Edmonds the UOVO Prize

John Edmond is featured in The New York CaribNews following his selection to be the inaugural UOVO Prize recipient. The UOVO Prize is awarded in conjunction with the Brooklyn Museum and presents the artist with a cash prize, a solo exhibit at the museum, and a public installation at UOVO’s new location in Brooklyn. John Edmonds, who is known for his sensitive depictions of young Black men, says he is “thrilled to work with the staff at the Brooklyn Museum and have [his] first solo museum presentation in the borough [he] calls home.” His Brooklyn Museum exhibition will be on show in 2020, and his installation on the facade of UOVO:BROOKLYN is set to unveil in fall 2019.
