Operations Manager, UOVO: NYC

UOVO seeks a full-time Operations Manager to support day-to-day activities at our Long Island City facility. The facility consists of over 270,000 square feet of storage and is a logistical hub for fine art deliveries, transport, installations and other logistical projects. The Operations Manager will facilitate efficient workflow and scheduling in support of all client requests as they apply to move-ins, viewings, inventory management, receive and releases and other large-scale projects. This position will work directly with the Director of Operations, UOVO Sales Team and Executive Staff to establish UOVO as the top art storage and services company in the country.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Long Island City technical staff in the safe storage and handling of important fine art, fashion and other unique collections. The position will be responsible for leading, managing and mentoring the Long Island City staff as well as coordinating special logistical projects with UOVO’s Account Management team and other senior managers. This includes but is not limited to ensuring policy and procedures are being adhered to and are consistent with UOVO’s established best practices. The Operations Manager will report directly to the Director of Operations.

The ideal candidate must be a strong leader, with a proven track record of people and process management as well as efficient logistical management experience. Must be comfortable multitasking in a fluid environment and be capable of problem solving, strong communication and follow-through.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee storage and services operations for UOVO’s Long Island City location, a high-security facility which houses important fine art and fashion collections, focusing on continually improving methods for increased efficiency
  • Implement and maintain storage efficiency, property safety and art handler safety while ensuring all inventory management standards are met and adhered to
  • Train, mentor and motivate a team mid-level managers, technicians and support staff, focusing on efficiency, safety and skill development, both technically and professionally, stressing accountability and ownership
  • Execute and oversee performance reviews and development plans for all warehouse team members; set and track departmental metrics and goals in line with the wider company objectives
  • Ensure all reporting staff are maintaining the highest levels of communication, both internally and externally
  • Interact with and facilitate needs of important clients who are onsite and requesting UOVO service work
  • Work with peers across various UOVO facilities and departments to share resources and ideas as it applies to staff, materials, scheduling and software functionalities
  • Manage complex logistical operations and maintain industry leading standards of quality in terms of art handling
  • Manage and support TSA Certified Cargo Screening Program implementation, training and adherence
  • Work in conjunction with Facilities Department on building maintenance projects, heavy equipment maintenance and operational services that support building integrity, including racking plan efficiency and installation
  • Adhere to all company policies and ethical standards, including confidentiality standards

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Team Player, able to work in a dynamic environment
  • Comfortable in a results-driven workplace
  • 5+ years of demonstrated effective people management experience
  • 7+ years warehouse, project management and/or logistics experience (art logistics/warehousing is preferred )
  • Experience interacting with art professionals
  • Excellent communication and multitasking skills
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft office suite and collection management databases
